Audio Visual Equipment - A CD player, 2 VCR's and 4 DVD/Blu Ray players are available near the periodicals in the library. You will need to check out a remote and headphones at the Circulation Desk.
Computers - The library offers 39 computers equipped with Microsoft (2010) Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access, Internet (Internet Explorer 10), Google Chrome and Firefox. You will need to login to use the library computers.
Fines - Overdue materials are subject to a flat fine of $3 per item.
Food - Limited snack foods and beverages may be enjoyed in the library, when consumed in a responsible manner that does not negatively impact library facilities, materials, or patrons. We ask that you not bring any plates of food into the library and we ask that you please eat any meals (fast food, cafeteria food, a packed lunch, etc.) outside of the library. You'll find several tables just down the hall from the library, in the A Building atrium, at which you may enjoy your food.
Group Study Space - The library does not have group study rooms but you can study in groups at the tables directly behind the Library Dean's office or at the tables in the Library Instruction Classroom area (when there is not a class). Collaboration and talking in a manner respectful to other library users is expected.
Inter Library Loan - Didn't find what you were looking for at MCC? Request an interlibrary loan to borrow a title from another library.
Library Cards - To check-out library materials you will need an MCC Library card. Library cards are free and available to all students of MCC and community members over the age of 16 who live within the college district. Obtain your library card at the Circulation Desk.
Loan Periods - Circulating books may be checked out for 21 days and may be renewed one time. Magazines and DVDs may be checked out for 7 days (TV series DVDs circulate for 14 days).
Photocopying - Black and white copying is available for $ .10 per page. Color copying is not available in the library.
Printing - All library computers are networked to a black and white printer. The first 25 pages per day are free to print. Click here for more information about the Academic Computing Labs.
Quiet Study Space - The tables in the library stacks are reserved for individual, quiet study.
Renewals - Most items may be renewed once, as long as there are no holds on the item. Contact the Circulation Desk at 815-455-8533 or follow these instructions to log in to the library's online catalog and renew your items.
Reserves - Instructors might place high-demand materials on "reserve." These items have limited loan periods and must be checked out at the Circulation Desk. To see what items an instructor has placed on reserve click on the "reserve desk" button on the Library Catalog (may search by instructor, course name or course number).
Returns - Return materials to the MCC Library at the following locations: Library Circulation (A212), purple return box outside of the library doors or the purple return box located outside Building A Entrance.
Scanning - A scanner is available at the stand up station near the circulation desk. Please click on the following link for instructions on how to use the Scanner.
Textbook Reserves - The library has some of the textbooks used in classes on reserve. These may be checked out from the Circulation Desk for one hour and used in the library only.
Wireless - Students have access to MCC Community Wireless network with their MyMcc login information. Community members may request a password for the MCC Guest network from the Circulation Desk.
Wireless Printing - For those who would like to print from their own devices, a wireless printer is available near the circulation desk. Click on the following link for instructions on how to use the Wireless Printer.
