Search Tools: Home

Search tools are what you use to find the types of information that you need. For example, Google is a search tool that helps you find websites, the library catalog is a search tool for finding books. What search tool you chose to use depends on your topic and the type of information that you need, such as books, scholarly articles, or statistics.

Search Tools on the MCC Library Website

The library provides access to numerous databases to locate different types of information on all possible topics. You can choose to use a search tool like Academic Search Complete that covers a wide variety of subjects, or you can select a more specific database that focuses on a specific subject such as PyscArticles. Another approach is to pick a search tool based on the type of source that you need. For example, if you are looking specifically for a newspaper article, you might choose to use the database Newspaper Source

To see all the databases available from the MCC Library, click on Academic Sources from the Library Website. Then select A-Z Databases. At the top of the page, you can use the drop-down boxes to see databases by subject or by type.

Another way to discover recommended search tools for your topic is to look at the MCC Library's Research Guides and select the subject most closely related to your topic.
