Finding Sources

Now that you've planned your search strategy, you're ready to research the specifics of your project.

About the Library Databases

  • Some databases cover a variety of research topics.
  • Others cover a specific research area, like Environmental Studies.
  • Databases contain a variety of information formats: eBooks, articles, newspapers, primary sources, statistics, videos, and more.
  • Easily identify what kind of information you have! Database results will identify academic articles, newspapers, magazines, opinions, etc.
  • All library databases have a Citations tool that will create your citation for you. (Just be sure to review it before you submit your References page. Sometimes there are small capitalization or punctuation errors that need to be corrected.)
  • Choose the database and information format that best matches the kind of information you need!

For example, the newspaper database NewsBank: America's Historical Newspapers is helpful for finding historic newspaper articles about the beginning of your park, or even challenges it has faced over the years. Here's one example of an historic newspaper article from 1913 describing the early days of Rocky Mountain National Park.
