Information Creation as a Process and Authority is Constructed and Contextual

Just because information comes from AI doesn't mean that it can be trusted (and we have lots of reasons not to).

Consider the source of the information: What dataset has the AI been trained on?
Consider the systematic bias: What dataset has the AI been trained on? What bias exists in the algorithm?
Where are the sources coming from: Are the sources from the internet? Are the sources from a database or other defined set?

Evaluating sources and determining if they meet the information need is an important part of being information literate.

Here are some tools that can help you evaluate:

Printable SCARAB Rubric
The SCARAB Rubric is a tool that helps you determine if you have a scholarly source appropriate for college-level research

C.R.A.A.P. Test
The original source evaluation rubric. CRAAP looks at the areas of currency, relevance, authority, accuracy, and purpose.
C.R.A.A.P.O
A source evaluation rubric, similar to SCARAB. Southern New Hampshire University Shapiro Library added some helpful language around online resources.
5Ws
Evaluate sources by looking at the Who, What, When, Where, and Why.
RADAR Test
Source evaluation framework that considers the factors of rationale, authority, date, accuracy, and relevance.
T.R.A.A.P. test
Uses the criteria of timeliness, relevance, authority, accuracy, and purpose to evaluate sources of information.
