AI in IL: The Right Tool for the Job

This guide demonstrates how students may use some AI tools in college or professional level research.

Research as Inquiry And Scholarship as Conversation

Research as Inquiry Research is iterative and depends upon asking increasingly complex or new questions whose answers in turn develop additional questions or lines of inquiry in any field. Scholarship as Conversation Communities of scholars, researchers, or professionals engage in sustained discourse with new insights and discoveries occurring over time as a result of varied perspectives and interpretations.

Examples of Use

After you enter your question, the results page gives a summary of the papers it analyzed.

When you click on a source, it shows how the paper answered the question, the key takeaways and the abstract, as well as the quality of the citations.

If you ask a yes/no question, Consensus will analyze the results to give you a visual count of the "consensus." This is very useful for students who need to find research on both sides of a topic.
