Researching Anthropology

Anthropology is a very broad field that includes topics in both the physical sciences and the social sciences. Most of the databases in this guide cover all the subfields of anthropology, although some are stronger in either physical anthropology or cultural anthropology.

Tips on search terms: To find articles with a more anthropological angle on a topic, try adding anthropology as one of your search terms, such as "buddhism and anthropology."

When searching the catalog for books, use broader search terms, such as "human migration," and look up specific populations and regions in the index at the back of the books.

When searching article databases, use more specific terms, such as "emigration."
