Health Information Technology: Finding Statistics

Data and Statistics Defiined

The terms data and statistics are often used interchangeably, but they refer to very different types of information.

  • Data is the collection of new factual information that is used to create statistics.
  • Statistics present an analysis of the data.

For example, if you conduct a survey, the information you collect is data. When you analyze that information and create a pie chart, it becomes statistics.

On this page, you'll find statistics for the following subjects:

General, Agriculture, Business and Economy, Climate, Weather, and the Environment, Consumer, Crime, Demographics, Education, Employment and Labor, Energy, Federal, Finance, Health, Illinois, Transportation, and World.
