Researching Anthropology

Anthropology is a very broad field that includes topics in both the physical sciences and the social sciences.  Most of the databases in this guide have some coverage of all the subfields of anthropology, although some have more strength in either physical anthropology or cultural.

Tips on search terms: To find articles with a more anthropological angle on a topic, try adding anthropology as one of your search terms, such as "buddhism and anthropology."

When searching the catalog for books, use broader search terms, such as "fossil hominids" and look up specific hominids in the indexes at the back of the books.

When searching article databases, use more specific terms, such as "homo habilis."
